Ed (English) Course
B.
Ed (English) course is offered at H. M. Patel Institute of English Training
& Research, Vallabh Vidyanagar. It is one-year course and those who
successfully complete the course will be awarded degree by Sardar Patel
University, Vallabh Vidyanagar. We were the first to offer such a course. It is
offered with theory papers and Practice Teaching. The theory papers consist of 6
papers.

Paper I |
Teacher
in emerging India and this paper has units like meaning, scope and arms of
Education, Basic issues in Education, Education and Society, Educational
management, management of Education and Distance Education. |

Paper II |
Psychological
Fundamentals and Evaluation. This paper has 6 units, namely Educational
Psychology and the teacher and learner, Learning Nature and Process
Thinking Problem Solving, language Learning Acquisition, Educational
Assessment
& Evaluation, Application of Educational Psychology. |

Paper III |
Methods
of Teaching English and this paper has six units. The units are
Preparation for Teaching, Methodological Perspectives Planning for
Teaching, Teaching Reading Skills, Teaching Writing Skills and Materials
for Teaching. |

Paper IV |
Literature
in Classroom. This paper too has six units, namely Study of Form,
Literature in Classroom, Study of Content, Making Literature interesting,
Developing Sensitivity to Literature and Creative Writing. |

Paper V |
Communication
Skills and the paper has six units namely English for Interpersonal
Communication, English Phonology, Accuracy in Written
Expression,
Paragraph Grammar, Formal and Informal Writing. |

Paper VI |
Electives
Educational and mental measurement and Information and Computer Technology
for Education (ICTE). This has both theory and Practice. This paper has
units like Introduction to Computer, Windows – Microsoft Word, Excel,
Power Point, Application of Computer Education and Computers for English
Language Teaching. |
Evaluation
This
is continues evaluation. The students give 10 different tasks and each task
carries 50 marks. Of the 10 tasks each has two sub-tasks of 25 marks each. In
addition to these 10 tasks the trainees take two internal tests and the
weightage for two test is 100 marks.

Teaching at H. M. Patel Institute of English Training & Research has 4

Off-Campus
Stage
lessons, Block Teaching and Off-campus programmes are conducted under the direct
guidance of the tutors from the Institute. The Internship lessons are given
under the guidance of school teachers.
In
all trainees gives 40 lessons in order to qualify himself/herself for the B. Ed
(English) exams.
In
addition to the internal evaluation the trainees need to undergo external
evaluation. There will be a university examination for each of the papers and
paper carries 100 marks.
In
all there will be 700 internal marks and 600 external marks.
