M. Phil. ELT Annual Report 2004

The M. Phil. [ELT] programme was introduced in 2002-03. So far four scholars have obtained their M. Phil. Degrees.  For the year 2003–04 four students have been given admission.  They have completed their examinations and have submitted their dissertations.

The course is coordinated by Dr. Ranganayaki Srinivas.  As visiting faculty, Prof. V. J. Trivedi, Dr. Mahendrabhai Chotalia, and Dr. Piyush Joshi have been working with them on a regular basis. They also had classes with Dr. V. D. Singh, former Head, CIEFL and Prof. Juneja, former Head, Dept. of English MSU and Dr. Kamal Mehta, Dept. of English Rajkot.

As part of the dissertation work all the students have put in a lot of hard work. Ms. Dhruti Vaghela has interviewed people who have been associated with Dr. H. M. Patel.  Mr. Jignesh Panchal has prepared tasks to teach short stories and has tried them on       M. A. ELT students and evaluated their improvement with a pre and post test. Ms. Pallavi Patel has produced computer based materials to teach functional English at Class VIII level which is based on the new textbook to be introduced from June 2004.          Dr. Sulabha Natraj who is involved in the production of this textbook has helped Pallavi by providing the draft lessons. Ms. Nikunj Upadhyay has produced tasks based on Authentic Materials and has tried them out on Class XI students of CVM Higher Secondary School.
