TALL Enriched CAPSULE for Collaborative Learning Abstract This
is a project description based on a pilot study. Technology
Aided Language Learning [TALL] is integrated with Classroom Activities
Promoting Simple, Useful Language Environment [CAPSULE] in this study. The
effect of this combination on non-native teacher-learners’ ability to learn
and teach English through collaborative efforts is analysed qualitatively. The
data collected through personal observation of the teacher educator,
reflective reports of the M. A. ELT teacher-learners, the feedback of the
students taught by them and the opinion of external observers are taken into
consideration for the analysis. The teacher-learners prepared a digital
Portfolio and submitted a hard copy as well as a soft copy. Both the
teacher-learners and the students taught by them were given pre and post
tests. But the main emphasis was on qualitative analysis and the quantitative
analysis was used only to validate the findings of the qualitative analysis.
The problems of Indian students in general and Gujarati teacher-learners in
particular in using technology, in teaching English by providing a natural
exposure and in working as a team are studied and implications are worked out
for future programmes. [Overview]
